How to set up proper coordinate system and vertical datum for your country in Emlid Flow & Emlid Flow 360

If your project requires the use of local coordinate systems, you can easily set them up in Emlid Flow and Emlid Flow 360. Your choice should be based on the area you want to work in: for each region, there is a local coordinate system optimized for that specific area. Most often, the required CS and vertical datum are specified in the technical assignment or official documents, or you can also look up your region in the EPSG registry.

With Emlid Flow and Emlid Flow 360, you can perform the setup in two ways:

Set up a coordinate system from library

The apps contain the verified registry of local coordinate systems for specific countries. All you need is to find your coordinate system and vertical datum by country, its name or EPSG code and apply it to your project. You can learn more about the setup process in our guide on setting up coordinate systems from the library. There are also step-by-step guides with more information on the coordinate systems used for specific countries, the list of which is constantly updated.

Set up a custom coordinate system

If you cannot find a required coordinate system for your project in Emlid Flow and Emlid Flow 360 apps and have its parameters, you can create a custom one. You can learn more about this in our guide on creating custom coordinate systems.

In general, if your coordinate system and/or vertical datum are not included in the registry of Emlid Flow and Emlid Flow 360 apps or you experience difficulties during setup, we recommend that you contact us at support@emlid.com. This will help us to improve our registry and make your workflow easier.

If you have already performed a survey and found that there is something wrong with the resulting coordinates, check out our support tip which describes the causes of a coordinates mismatch and suggests ways to fix it.
