Our field-ready receivers have IP67 protection to save them from water and dust inside. They are often used as a permanent base, so I recommend looking through other threads discussing this topic, for example, here or here to check some particular examples.
In general, I’d say that such a setup should be maintained similarly to any other electrical equipment in terms of its protection from the weather. Charging Reach via USB and the external bottom connector with this cable have no difference in terms of being protected from environmental conditions. Also, in both cases, the connector should be safe from water.
