Hi all, I am wanting to purchase a pair of reach RS2+ for creating site plans to design septic systems. I will often be working in heavily wooded areas, although there is usually a good clearing somewhere on the lot already. It is my understanding that you can end up with only sub meter level accuracy under heavy canopy with the RS2+. I am wondering if you can leave one RS2+ under the clearing as base, and then use the LoRa with the other RS2+ as rover, and get centimeter level accuracy in t…

Hello, I occasionally use GPS for my work but my knowledge is very basic. We are doing some tree canopy studies and need to get location of 25 x 25 m study sites under dense forest canopy. I am wondering if a Reach RS2 used as a network rover, or with out RTK fix, can achieve under 2m accuracy in dense forest canopy. Cheers

Using REACH to survey under a tree canopy

Has anyone tried using REACH under tree canopy? I am trying to survey sub-tropical rain forest for a house site, about 30m x 30m, in New Zealand. There is an govt GNSS (all bands) ground station 25km away. My plan is to post process the fixes with the govt ground station or set up a nearby reach unit with a clear sky view. I have thought I might need the Tallysman 40dbi antenna to increase the SNR. The fixes need to be <50cm (but <20cm would be better) relative to each other. The height I will …
