When using the Emlid NTRIP Caster service with a RS3 base and rover, generally how stable is the Emlid Caster service in terms of link drop outs to the Emlid Server particularly at the GNSS base? If occasional link dropouts do occur, does the system automatically attempt to reconnect or does the GNSS base need to be manually stopped and reconnected? Concerned that when logging static data at the GNSS base while using the caster service, I will get multiple base rinex files if the server link drops in and out instead of 1 constant rinex file.
In my experience the Emlid Caster is no different than any other single-mountpoint service. Works great when data connectivity is great and doesn’t when it’s not.
Welcome to the forum! Let me clarify your concern.
As Michael mentioned, the Emlid Caster connection depends on the stability of your internet connection. If your connection drops, the base may temporarily lose its connection to the server. You can always check the status next to the mount point name on the Caster page: if there’s a disconnection, it shows Offline.
The base will still stay powered on, and the logging will keep going. The drops only affect the corrections stream, so the RTK solution status.
