If you use a setup like this make sure the non-survey pole is completely straight and uniform at the mounting point.
yes, a traditional tripod is BEST for stability. But using a rover / prism pole with (2) bipods or (1) prism pole tripod (best) (Dutch Hill Surveying Prism Pole Tripod - Save at Tiger Supplies) (PRISM POLE TRIPOD is much lighter and less bulky also. consider this when shipping).
is much easier to throw up and a consistent constant pole height every time. None of that measuring the bottom of the RS etc.

Hmm… if you had a transparent bucket mounted with a “nice large” opening in the midle of the tripod, you could have your Reach floating perfectly stable with a plumb laser pointing straight down.
And to make it stay put, a precision autopilot could navigate it with RTK feed from the antenna in Loiter mode.
