I’m having trouble getting mobile data to toggle on using an AT&T sim card on a data plan. I’ve set the APN to Broadband and Authentication type to Not Provided. I’m wondering if there is an issue with AT&T, the data plan, or with the APN settings. I’ve used a Verizon sim card successfully using APN: VZWINTERNET.
I’ve looked at these forums, but they are closed now to be able to continue the conversation there.
If anyone has had these issues or successfully used mobile data with AT&T, please let me know what the solution was.
Have you tried a data+voice plan? Some of our users faced difficulties using data-only AT&T SIM cards for the Internet connection. The issue was resolved once the SIM card plan was switched to the one with the voice calls. So, it might be worth checking with your provider to see if they can set up a hybrid plan for you.
As a workaround, you can insert this SIM card inside your mobile phone and share the Internet following our guide. You can also connect to the unit via Bluetooth and use the NTRIP over Bluetooth option. This way, the receiver will use the internet from the mobile device to receive corrections.
@inkar.madikyzy That did it! We had been struggling with this for months using Verizon where possible, but we travel to some areas where Verizon doesn’t have coverage, but AT&T does. It would be great if there was a better disclaimer somewhere since this seems to be an issue with a bigger pool of users.
So to be clear, using a data-only plan did not work. Switching to a data+voice plan did work.
Money, my ATT data only for my Javad is $60 month. The problem with data only is you’re not paying enough to ATT. I ran into the same issue with Verizon and ATT. ATT has a greater coverage area in our region of SC, Verizon is very spotty.
We also have a DAC plan for our other Javad’s and it runs about $30 month per sim card. They apparently use some of ATT networks as we don’t have any gaps in coverage using it.
I’ll probably switch mine from ATT eventually but I’m satisfied with the coverage for our area using them for my receiver.
Something very interesting. We were also having trouble getting both Verizon and ATT to connect to 5G on a particular modem (ATT and Verizon would connect to 4G but not 5G, Tmobile connected to 5G without any issues) and when we changed the ATT plan to be data+voice (originally just a data-only plan), it immediately connected to 5G without the issues we were seeing before on the data-only plan. So I don’t think this is an issue of the devices, but rather something with the type of plan.
Reach can work with different SIM card operators, and such restrictions usually come from the mobile operator’s side. In most cases, issues with internet access via SIM card can be solved by adjusting the configuration.
As for data-only SIM cards, we’ve just had reports from some AT&T users that switching to a voice plan can help. We can’t say much about the reasons for now.
