Using external RS-232 radio to improve RTK connection

Dear all,

Does anyone experience using external radio on RS-232 on the Reach RS to improve its radio link between Base and Rover for better RTK connections, particularly in populated areas? If yes, please kindly share your results and recommendation.

I found that in some populated areas, LoRa radio on Reach RS could NOT work even for less than 1km distance so it’s very useful if we could external radio that could work for distance of 4km - 5km.

Thank you in advance…!

No experience here, but these guys have been doing it for years:

The high power will likely require you to get a radio license or permit to operate, plus they are probably expensive (try eBay for used ones?)

(Lower frequency travels better, but needs much more power.)
