Use RPI3 Onboard Wifi in AP mode

I am trying to figure out how to setup my RPI3 with the Emlid image to support AP WIFI mode. I am unsure about pursuing my own method due to how the image already comes with a different WIFI configuration. Has anyone tried to do this?

I followed Raspberry Pi Documentation - Configuration and simply had to replace wlan0 with intwifi0
