USB buffer choking

I have two TeraRanger One sensors connected to the RPi2 via USB at a baud rate of 115200. However, after a few minutes, the RPi2 loses frame sync and it cannot recover (needs to be rebooted).

Is it possible to increase the USB buffers on raspbian-rt for the Navio+ or does anyone have any suggestion?

We will need a more detailed description of hardware and software parts of the issue. So far there is not enough information to figure out what might be the problem.
