Is it even possible to change the units from Meters to inches or feet etc? If not, why?

Meters only at the moment. You could make a feature request if you think other units are necessary.
Unfortunately, not right now. You can do this after exporting your data to external software, like QGIS.

Thank you for the response.
Hopefully this basic option will be available soon in a update. Especially needed in the Stake Out feature under development please. Would prefer these readouts in realtime versus after the fact.
