Flying without an transmitter might be illegal in your country.
Anyhow, it is always possible that errors occur which require manual controll (e.g. GNSS problems).
I prefere to operate the vehicle by a RC transmitter because Iām faster and I have a manual.

Return-To-Home. You can also use a laptop in scenarios where the hardware is compatible.
If you have a working GNSS.

True, but it is VERY unlikely that you would ever lose all GNSS constellations or have a board fry.
