Tilt compensation with third party software

Hi!

Just got back from doing my first land survey with RS3. Can’t say other than that I’m a bit disappointed.
First off doing preparation work, loading background files as a dxf and not being able to separate them from the points and lines taken in field (layers or background map).
In the field not being able to do multiply line work at the same time, not being able to see z values without clicking a point.
And when getting back not being able to do a dxf export with points set to layers same as raw description.

The hardware worked great with quick fixed solutions with the Swedish ntrip network and the tilt compensation is awesome (fist time i have this)

So my question is have anyone had success with a third party android software working with the tilt compensation. I don’t need a lot of functions except the most basic traditional coding capabilities and layer handling.

Best regard
Per

Hi,

Currently there isn’t a very elegant solution for tilt in 3rd party software, but you can make it work. Here’s what it looks like using Geomax’s XPAD, but would work the same way in other 3rd party software like FieldGenius.

Maybe I was a bit quick to say that you cant do multiple line work, you solve this by giving each line a unique number, what i’m missing is being able to do more traditional line work coding such as starting, ending, closing, on curve and so on giving a sufix to the raw description.

Thanks i will try this out and se if it works for me.

I believe that to get the most out of your RS3 unit, you need to upgrade to third-party software.
I have been using Fieldgenius Android for over 4) years with outstanding success. X-Pad is another that I have tried, but I have always fallen back on the FGA software, of coarse it comes at an additional cost, but the features provided work for my everyday construction survey, live cut-fill models when chasing the dozers around, parking lot layout, and asbuilt point collection along with easy downloads to cad.

Hi @per.pallmar, thank you for providing more details about your request. Our application currently does not offer these features, but I will raise this as a feature request to our development team for potential future implementation.
