Survey not updating in Flow360

After collecting points on a remote project I attempted to export to Flow360. The survey name appears but no points. I also noticed the surveys I performed over the past week but hadn’t exported appear as empty projects.

When I select ‘Survey’ in the app (v.13.1) the app often crashes/closes. If I select ‘Survey’ and don’t scroll down, I can tap the tri-dots at the upper right and select ‘Export’. However, when I choose any file format the spinning wheel appears indefinitely and nothing exports to Flow360.

I was in a remote location during my initial attempt to export, and noticed Emlid updated the app at around the same time.

Hi Michael,

With the new update, we’ve started upgrading our database infrastructure. If you have many projects, the app may take a bit longer to sync all your data. Please leave the app open for a few minutes before navigating to the Survey tab. Also, a stable internet connection is vital for sync to work properly.

Let me know how it goes. I’m here to help!

I’ve opened the Emlid Flow app several times and waited a few minutes before tapping ‘Survey’. If I scroll, the app closes. If I don’t scroll, but tap the triple dots at the upper right of a survey and select ‘Export’ the app freezes with the spinning wheel turning indefinitely. I’ve uninstalled the app, and downloaded and installed a fresh version. Now, the app shuts down immediately when I tap ‘Survey’. I’ve attached a screenshot of an error stating there’s a known bug, and I need to install a new version of the app once the developer has made a fix to the known bug.

Please advise.

Mike

Michael, I’m truly sorry for all the inconvenience this update has caused you. Our team is actively working on a fix for this issue and will release it as soon as possible to prevent further disruptions. I’ll keep you updated once the fix is available.

I’ve also replied to your email. When you get a chance, could you please take a look?

The Emlid Android app will crash one launched and ‘Survey’ is selected.
The Emlid iOS app opens and I can view the ‘GP Emery’ survey listed, but cannot see the survey or export it. It does list 201 points (see attached). It seems with export function cannot sync with the server and it stalls indefinitely. I need to recover and export the points. Is there a location on my phone where I may access these points directly without going through the export process?

I don’t know… but seems to me it would be ideal that there should be some sort of LOCAL storage of projects… then if you lose internet connection, you can still work… then once a internet connection returns, then those local files are synced to the cloud. I do this using OneDrive and FieldGenius (legacy Windows). I personally am not comfortable with auto cloud syncing and especially if that is the ONLY location of all of your work over time. Seems they could just “disappear” easily by mistake via bug or something uncontrollable. I also prefer being able to back up manually easily versus playing the export game. I also prefer a 1 source VPN work server for all my data… and for auto daily backups.

Hi Michael. Just wanted to let you know that the new scheme is working properly over all. Obviously not for everyone yet. I’m on android 13.1 and have no issues at all. So, don’t get too frustrated. Support will get it sorted.

Hi Tim.

I can turn off data to my phone and all works as expected. Projects are available, and I can add a project without issue. I can close Flow, and re-open it and all is still available. So data is certainly stored locally.

Ok thank you. But can you access those files manually if need be. I.e. situations like this currently.

I guess can only EXPORT… but that would get old real quick with many many projects/files.

If you mean, can I export a .csv, for example, yes.

Michael,

We’ve just released a new version of Emlid Flow on both iOS and Android. It contains a fix for the issue you’ve been experiencing. Could you please update the app and let me know how it works for you now? I suggest not reinstalling the app.

The new version updated on my Android. I can select ‘Survey’ and the app remains open and i can see the list of projects, select them and view the data. When I export any data type the exported file is empty. In the case of a .csv, the column headers are there but no points or attributes. I can see the points in the app, but they arent being exported.

Thanks for the help. We’re making progress.

I’m checking this with the developers and will get back to you shortly. In the meantime, could you please update Emlid Flow on your iOS device and see if the issue still occurs there?

I updated Emlid Flow on my iOS device. Same functionality there. I exported the GP Survey and emailed. The .csv attachment was only 700 bytes and included column headers only, no point data.

Could you generate a database report on your iOS? To do so, hold the app version on the Profile tab for a few seconds. It’ll give us a bit more detail to investigate. Please send it via email. Also, under Preferences → Database backup, do you see any projects listed there?

By any chance, have you tried exporting the project from Emlid Flow 360 after the new update?

I’m attaching the database backup and app report to an email. I Preferences I see the Eureka Exploration’ and ‘Demo project’ in the iOS app.
