Suggestions for a UK NTRIP service provider

Hi,

We are trying to get our RS+ rover to work with an NTRIP corrections service.

We have tried with premium positioning
Precise Positioning Solutions - Premium Positioning

These were the GNSS settings we used as per the instructions on the emlid website:

It instantly began to show it was receiving corrections and I had it on for over an hour but I couldn’t get it to change from FLOAT to FIX.

I spoke with the technical team at premium positioning and they said they most frequently see problems like this when using a mobile hotspot instead of integrated data SIM. (Obviously the RS+ does not have a SIM slot)

We then started a free trial with point perfect to trial their NTRIP corrections.
PointPerfect | u-blox
We couldn’t get the rover receiving corrections at all. We checked the credentials with a different device and it worked with this so we know the credentials are definitely correct.

Has anyone got an NTRIP corrections service working with the RS+? Are we being limited by the single frequency hardware of the RS+? Is there some set up we are missing?
We need something reliable with nationwide UK coverage so paying for a subscription is not a problem, but we are just struggling to find something that works.

You need a dual frequency receiver to take advantage of quicker convergence times along with better data.

Single frequency is fine but there are long convergence times for fix and you need to have absolute clear skies for a reliable fix.

Turn GLONASS AR off
I can see your position quality is all under 30mm so it should get a FIX, I think it’s just something to do with GLANSS AR as the receiver hardware is different to what the VRS bases would be.

Hi @SpudTechAg,

Reach devices currently do not support the Point Perfect correction service. We haven’t integrated this yet into our software, so the device won’t be able to compute its accurate position using this correction service.

Regarding the issue of not getting a FIX solution, I would also try turning off QZSS satellites to see if it helps. Also, did you, perhaps by any chance, record the raw data logs during the test? If so, could you please share them with me?

I’d like to look at the data. I need the RINEX observation and navigation files from the rover, as well as the incoming correction data from the base in RTCM3 format. I’d also need the Full System Report from the receiver.

Since it contains sensitive information, you can send it to me via email at support@emlid.com. Thanks!

Try Smartnet (from Leica and some other re-sellers e.g. MGISS) or the Trimble offering (e.g. from Korec). Both have excellent tech. support to make sure you have the correct settings such as coordinate system and geoid model. There are other services available. Ymmv but I have found that they require a bit more effort to set up . Whichever way you go I recommend initially checking against a trig pillar or find someone else with an RTK kit.
