Sending low level manual flight commands to navio2 board

I have my managed to connect my navio2 board to mission planner via telemetry radios. My understanding is that I can use this to create flight plans that the drone will then follow. Is there a way I can write a script/send commands to the drone manually? For example, let’s say I wanted to have the drone hover, move forward, and then land again.
