After leaving my RS2 unused for a while, I turned it on, and it started continuously blinking, getting stuck in the loading status. I attempted to flash the firmware, but without success. I then contacted the Emlid support team and sent the log files, but unfortunately, the issue remained unresolved. Yesterday, I tried flashing it again using the latest version of the flashtool, and it successfully flashed. The device worked perfectly until it powered off. However, when I turned it back on, it got stuck in the loading status again. This device was quite expensive for me, so if anyone has encountered the same issue and found a solution, I would greatly appreciate your help. This is certainly a software problem.
Hi @chokola27,
I’ve reviewed your previous email communication with us and discussed the case with our development team. Normally, reflashing the receiver resolves any software-related issues. While it seems the unit was temporarily restored after the reflashing, the fact that it’s stuck on the loading screen again indicates that the issue might be deeper.
I flashed the firmware a few days ago, and so far, it’s been working well. I left the device running since yesterday, and it’s still operational. I suspect the new firmwares may not be managing the battery properly, I could be wrong. The battery discharges rapidly, but the voltage remains nearly constant. This suggests that even at 1% charge, the device can continue running for several hours. In fact, as I write this, the unit is still operating on my window with only 1% battery remaining.
There were some changes to the battery estimation algorithm to make it more accurate, but it needs a full charge-discharge cycle to learn. Just leave your device to discharge until it turns itself off, then charge overnight. That should fix the indicator.
After a complete discharge, should I charge it while it’s turned on or off?
It will learn regardless, but if you keep it off it will charge faster.
