ReachView app does not show up in Cat S41 phone

Hello

I have a Reach module.

  • I connect my Cat S41 phone to the hotspot, it works
  • I start the android app called ReachView
  • The startscreen of the app, “Reach Units”, shows the unit as “reach 192.168.42.1”
  • When i tap the unit in the list, a gray screen appears, but nothing more happens until it finally sayes “Sorry, ReachView is not responding”
  • When I press the back button on my phone, and reload the “Reach Units” list, the unit is still found as “reach 192.168.42.1”
  • If I try 192.168.42.1 in my phone browser, it sayes something lake that the site is not available (I had to translate from norwegian to english)

Is there a way to connect my Cat S41 to reach module in hotspot?

In my PC there is no problems connecting to the hotspot and showing ReachView in my Chrome browser

Hi Knut,

What Android version is installed on your smartphone?

My phone has Android version 8.0.0

Do you have cell service on your phone? Has it ever worked?

I don’t think it has worked with this phone. It worked with my old phone!

What do you meen with cell service? It’s a normal Android phone with sim card to connect it to a GSM, 4G etc. network. Why is this important?

Ok, yes I was referring to any mobile data service. I had the issue on Android where I had to turn off mobile data when connecting to the receivers hotspot.

You have perfectly right, this solves it!

My new phone seek 192.168.42.1 on the mobile network instead of on the reach hotspot!

Maybe improvements could have been done on the ReachView app to force it to use the wifi connection. It seems like it could be possible: Android API guide

Glad it worked! They are aware of the issue and it stopped happening in iOS, but there is still something awry in Android.
