Hello,
I’m seeing the launch of the RS3L, the RS3 with L-band support.
What changes compared to the previous model?
What are the benefits of upgrading the receiver?
Is anyone using it? Testing it?
What about U-Blox’s Perfect Point?
Are there any tests? What is the real accuracy? And reliability?
What is the cost of the service?
Where are you seeing this???
Sounds like this Guandalini company is just marketing the normal RS3 with this uBlox PointPerfect service they are selling with it? Maybe not officially from Emlid or endorsed by them?
It’s possible.
I searched on the Emlid website and didn’t really find a specific RS3"L" model.
So it must be the same thing, just with a “makeover”
Hi guys,
We’ve been working on supporting L-band corrections from Reach firmware’s side, and some specific models of Reach RS3 support it via PointPerfect. Currently, it’s implemented only in Brazil, so it can only be used within the country.
This way, it’s possible to receive corrections in areas without Internet coverage, as L-band doesn’t require it. The corrections are received from particular satellites, so you won’t have a physical base station.
Hi, is it possible to update RS2 to L band, that would be good too?
Hi Cairo,
Welcome to the forum!
L-band corrections are available only on specific Reach RS3 devices, so they cannot be used with Reach RS2.
I don’t understand.
Do all RS3s support L-Band corrections?
Or is it a specific RS3 model?
Because of firmware? (Software vs hardware limits?).
Hi guys,
It’s supported only on Reach RS3 devices with specific hardware. These receivers can be purchased at Guandalini.
Just to sum up this topic. These are devices with specific hardware changes that are available only in Brazil. RS2, RS2+, RS3 do not have the necessary hardware to receive L-band, so it is not possible to support it on them. RS3L is a product just for the market of Brazil.
