Reach M2 Wi-Fi Power Consumption

Hi,

For our applications, we are using the reach M2’s for an extended period of time, and it is pushing the limits of our power banks. We are wondering what the power consumption of the M2’s hotspot was, and if we could meaningfully extend the lifetime of a charge by turning the wi-fi off after we begin usage.

Thanks.

Post what kind of battery banks along with capacity and power ratings may help? Photos?

Hi Cameron,

I can hardly share the power consumption of the Wi-Fi module. You can turn off Wi-Fi on the receiver to save up the battery charge. You can find this functionality at the bottom of the Wi-Fi screen in Emlid Flow.

If it’s a matter of capacity, just use larger ones. The RS2+ uses 6400mAh for reference. RS3 little less but more Volts.

Maybe Amps too low? Maybe more Amps, i.e 2A or 3A vs 1.2A. Voltage over 5V will fry it.

From specs:

Electrical

  • Power supply voltage on
    USB or JST-GH connectors4.75 - 5.5 V
  • Antenna DC bias3.3 V
  • Typical current consumption @5V300 mA
