Reach geodetic antenna - any experiences

I’ve stumbled across Tomoji Takasu’s paper regarding low cost GPS receiver performance with RTK (http://gpspp.sakura.ne.jp/paper2005/isgps2008_paper_ttaka.pdf).

From the paper, it appears that antenna quality has the biggest impact on performance.

Another post in the forum points out that the Trimble Zephyr is not compatible with the Reach due to a higher input voltage requirement. The Novatel GPS-701-GG has the same problem.

Has anyone used a “geodetic” quality antenna to improve Reach performance? If yes, which one?

Also, if you were to get a higher quality antenna, do you put it on the base, rover, or both? Which is most important?
