This is my first post here, and I figured this would be the place to learn from, so here goes.
I need to start using RTK for my drone mapping business, and I’m currently looking at a used RS3 system. What questions should I be asking and what answers should I be expecting to maximize the probability that I’ll get a good value for my money and to minimize the possibility that I’ll get scammed?
Oh, and this would be an online purchase, so I wouldn’t be able to examine the system beforehand.
If anything, seems a lot of people try to sell their used equipment pretty close to new price which is ridiculous. I know Ebay has a few consistent scammers but typically Ebay will refund you.
So out in the wild here on the forum or anywhere else you are really looking at risk if seller is not trustworthy of course. Maybe at least Paypal or AmEx account? I’d be very of foreign purchases.
If the seller seems to be another drone enthusiast and can locate and read legit posts here or other sites, maybe hood chance. But either way, it better be a deal. None of this $1800+ for a RS2 or $2500+ for a RS3.
I have no idea when next version of RS is to be released, but i am guessing very soon. It is VERY LONG OVERDUE. i.e. L1 L2 L5 etc for better ESSENTIAL undercanopy performance etc. Plus msny other features HOPEFULLY that the chinese competition already has. AR, EDM and LiDAR etc.
I’m waiting so I can buy another ublox evaluation kit. I already have two f9’s and 1 m10. They are fun to play around with. I’ve used the f9 as a base a couple of times. You have to configure the unit with ucenter but it’s pretty easy.
It just amazes me how small they are… compared to the old Trimble 4000 suitcase/car battery receivers we first got in 1990.
