We bought a turnigy 9x rx/tx combo to use for the navio2 to create a quadcopter and were wondering how to connect everything together. From research it seems that we cannot directly connect the bundled receiver (turnigy 9x8c-V2) to the navio2 pins, and need an encoder. Since we are newbies to this, we just wanted to confirm that we need a ppm encoder for our tx/rx system to work. We are using a navio2 with a rpi3. We have a dji e305 propulsion system, and a generic frame bought online.
