PPK workflow, how best to save time?

Hello,

I intend to use Reach RS in the mode highlighted below:

I have some questions about the differences in at which point in time you process your data in the survey workflow… Here I present two scenarios, which show how I envisage Reach RS working:

Scenario 1:

  1. Set up base over unknown point
  2. Leave base for an hour
  3. Set up rover
  4. Collect point measurements with rover
  5. Pack kit away
  6. Obtain base coordinates using my chosen RINEX service
  7. Use PPK to process my points and obtain ~7mm accuracy points in a real coordinate system (e.g. British National Grid).

Scenario 2:

  1. Set up base over unknown point
  2. Leave base for an hour
  3. Pack kit away
  4. Obtain base coordinates using my chosen RINEX service
  5. Set up base over known point
  6. Collect point measurements with rover
  7. Pack kit away
  8. Enjoy my already corrected points with 7mm accuracy in a real coordinate systems (e.g. British National Grid).

Can both of these scenarios be performed with 2 Reach RS units?

If so, do both produce the same accuracy in the points collected with the rover?

If not, which bit doesn’t work?

Some clarification here would be much appreciated!

Many thanks

James

Hi James,

Both of them are possible and should produce same accuracy. There is also an option to collect points in RTK and log raw data on the base at the same time. In the office you can find the real position of the base and shift your whole survey by the difference with autonomous position that the base obtained in the field.
