Hi. I have a pair of RS+ (base and rover). I am not a professional surveyor and normally use the units for setting out where i have a known point an din close proximity. I was asked to survey a boundary where there was huge elevation change and lots of tree cover. I had a known point so set base and logged data on that and also logged the data on the rover. (Rover was in single rtk mode for majority of survey due to poor visibility, only in fix/float at beginning near base). I haven’t used emlid studio before so I tried to post process kinematic in emlid studio but can only get a single solution. I’m not sure what i am doing wrong or if my data is just not good enough. I tried to upload the raw data with this post but it is not allowing me. Apologies but not used of this process so any help is appreciated. thanks
Hey!
My personal experience with the L1-only receivers such as the RS+ is that they are very sensitive to tree cover and it can be pretty much impossible to get a fix under tree cover. Sometimes I could, but I would have to wait 10-45 minutes on each point for the solution to fix, and I was never that confident with the data.
Boundary surveys are usually serious business and you want to get it right . You may need to use a multi-band receiver like the RX, RS2+ or RS3.
Happy Easter!
Cheers, Al
Hi @davidshandon,
Welcome to our community forum!
Since you’re working in a highly vegetated area, I suggest that to get good results with any GNSS receiver, you work in an area with a clear sky view so the unit can receive uninterrupted signals from multiple satellites. The RS+, being a single-band receiver, is more sensitive to environmental conditions.
At the moment, I don’t see any issue with your setup. Also, if you want to send us your data, it’s always better to send it to our email support@emlid.com, as we have a file size limit on the community forum.
I do agree with @alistair. Have you had a chance to survey with another receiver of ours?
Awaiting your response!
