Currently on the RS2+ using firmware version 32, there is an option to Turn on automatically when powered via EXT port
. This turns the unit on and off automatically in sync with an external power source connected over EXT port.
Are there plans in a coming firmware release to support a UPS mode
? This would be very useful so that the unit turns on when the EXT is connected (as before) but instead of turning off when the EXT is disconnected, it switches to the internal battery in the case of lost power. With a UPS mode
, the user can still turn the unit off manually via the app.

My understanding is that the EXT Port only provides power and is not integrated with the charge controller. So I would think that even if they were to do something along these lines in an update, it might not actually be able to work in a “UPS Mode”.
Hi @andres.rosero
Thank you for your feedback! Could you share more about your workflow and why you need the feature to switch to battery power when the external port is unplugged?
This will help me to understand better the request.

We use the emlid for long periods of time and would like it to remain on permanently, so we use the EXT connector to give it constant power. There have been a few times when the power goes out (due to the nature of our work)and so the EXT connector loses power and then turns off the emlid. We would like for the emlid to not turn off so it doesn’t discontinue sending base corrections. The internal battery should be able to power the emlid and continue sending corrections while we get power back to the building.
Hi Andres,
Thank you for the explanation! I can see how it can be useful. I have passed your request to our development team.
