I assume complex shape and offet and not RTK correction. But yes, it is done in the field. I would highly recommend q-cogo.
It could be run without internet on your brower and have all kind of different point stored and share on the fly in the field.
Or if only simple calculations is need, the mobile cogo.
Another fun project i would like to try is to mount a leica lino point and line laser. With this tool you would create a much straighter line and a more accurate measure. I would propbly try this in the future.
