Not the same internet connection.
NTRIP has a Caster and Client. The Caster has a GPS base station with it that is transmitting RTCM via the internet ( Network Transport of RTCM via Internet Protocol/NTRIP). The rover needs to have internet available to connect to the Caster either by IP address or name.

Both base and rover should have Internet access. As @jp-drain-sol pointed out, they can be connected to different Wi-Fi networks (or have SIM cards inserted). You can find additional info on how NTRIP casters work in our blog post.
