NMEA resolution and autonomous vehicles RTK

I’ve been looking at autonomous vehicles tractors etc and wondered what protocol is used from an Emlid GPS to control them - I think NMEA sentences has a resolution of 0.00001 decimal minutes ? which would be just over 1 meter of latitude - not that accurate with RTK. I’m I missing something

Hi @myozone,

Sorry for the late answer.

What message do you use to get position from NMEA?

I’ve done a short NMEA logging on Reach and got this GNRMC message with position coordinates:

$GNRMC,135338.80,A,5957.6108808,N,03020.0740357,E,0.39,210918,A*52

As we can see, the coordinates have 7 digits after the decimal point, which corresponds to an accuracy of up to mm.

Andrew.

Many thanks Andrew, It’s a just a theoretical question at the moment.
