So per the images i have a DJI RTK base station tripod that my org has for our legacy DJI TRK Base Station, we bought a Reach 2 Plus as we are branching out to non DJI drones and the DJI gear does not work with non DJI equipment.
I am having issues with trying to reuse the existing tripod with the new Reach 2 plus. I have an adapter that should give me the clearance for the antenna, but trying to find an adapter that will work on the survey pole is giving me fits. The threads are on the outside so I think it is a female adapter? The picture of the DJI base station is for reference as you just screw it on.
Has any one else tried to do this or I am just better off biting the bullet and getting a new tripod?
What’s the thread size on the pole ? I can’t tell by the image what size it is. Standard for survey equipment is 5/8" x 11. If this is the size, you would need a 5/8"x 11 male to female adapter to mount to the adapter on rs to the pole. I haven’t seen that kind of rod before. Will the adapter screw onto the pole ?
You may have to visit your local tractor supply store
If it’s still tricky to bridge the setup, it might be worth considering a different survey tripod. We offer tripods in our store that are fully compatible with Reach.
If you all see the picture above the D-RTK 2 has a “proprietary” external thread and the mounting hole on the bottom of their receiver is about 1" diameter. Is that correct @longze? The adapter below is the opposite of what needs to happen to use that pole with a standard 5/8" so you just need to find out what the DJI-side thread is. Seems to me that is going to be very hard to do without a custom machined or 3D printed part.
I knew that was what you meant. My point was that when you are the gorilla, you sort of get to dictate the standard. When you’re not the gorilla, it can be more risky to go proprietary.
If you are not willing to “home brew” an adapter, the price on that adapter above would lead me to just purchase another set of legs with tribrach or a GNSS tripod similar to this:
The more expensive GPS tripods are nicer in that they sometimes have a screw style extender on one of the legs, but you get what you pay for. I currently just use an old Sokkia metal pole with a good, firm set of Seco bipods for our GNSS base setups. However, I make sure to set it up in low wind areas. You make not have that option.
I know what you meant but just to clarify this is a tripod add-on and requires that @longze has or will purchase a prism (rover) pole. I have used this and a bipod add-on for a long time.
