We’re excited to announce that you can now input pre-calculated localization parameters when setting up a custom coordinate system in Emlid Flow and Emlid Flow 360. This can be useful for countries like Austria requiring horizontal and vertical adjustment parameters.
It means you no longer have to go through the re-localization process for your projects—just enter the parameters provided by your local authorities or other software:
Begin setting up a custom coordinate system as you normally would.
Enter the horizontal adjustment parameters after configuring transformation parameters.
Enter the vertical adjustment parameters after selecting the geoid model.
Hi. Just saw this annoumcement in the emlid flow app. Nice to see more customization for the CS. I have tried to implement one for my local CS but I could not do it because of a certain things. The easting in the my defined CS is a negative number. However I can only put positive numbers in all fields during the CS definition. The button that has both a dot and a minus on my numerical keybord on android allows me only to place a dot. So I cannot define for example a false easting = -25246.720. Only positive numbers are allowed.
I tried every field in the custom CS definition but fields like false easting/northing, rotation, origin east/north, slopes, all of them do not allow minus sign. If anyone can explain how to place a minus, I really appreciate the answer. But as of now, a single button with a dot and a minus only allows the dot.
Another thing that is missing for me is the False elevation, Origin elev, and Project height inder the Projection (at least it is there in my trimble logger). These values are taken directly from Trimble data logger where this CS is defined.
Also, for some reason, the flattening in our Trimble logger is set to 298.257222933 which is neither grs80 nor wgs84. But I cannot change it because the 1/f field is not editable in emlid flow.
What you see on Android with a minus sign is most likely a bug, thanks for noticing, we’ll pass it to the dev team. But in the meantime, you could try to create a custom CS on Emlid Flow360, I just checked and it’s possible to enter negative values there.
Regarding the flattening of an ellipsoid, it seems to be a non-standard value, but it’s pretty close to both GRS80 and WGS84 (less than a mm of a difference in axis), so you could use either of them without worries.
And finally about false elevation: is there a chance that a vertical adjustment could serve you here? You could enter the height shift there, leaving the rest of the inputs at zero, and it will be applied as a constant shift to every point in the project.
I’m unfamiliar with Trimble logger, so maybe you could share more details on how you use it and how the CS is defined there. Having parameters and some points to verify the math on our side could be extra helpful. If you could share them here or privately via mail to support@emlid.com, it would greatly help us!
We have both horizontal and vertical adjustments as well as other parameters. I was looking at it again and unfortunately cannot make it work. I am preparing a document with parameters from trimble logger and will send it to the support team along with a few real measured points for additional info.
