I’m looking for recommendations for rod to mount the Reach RS on that will stay in place (tripod maybe) vertical until I get a fix at the point and also will give me a way to measure the RS height from the ground. Is there something like that?
It depends how mobile you wanna be:
Quick solution
-
Rover rod aka prism pole with bipod, gives you very good positioning fast
-
Survey tripod (those for a total station), takes 3x-4x times longer to set up on a point, but they can be placed over the point much more precisely.

Snap lock surveys poles. One with bipod legs other with tripod.
