Hi emlid what is the difference between M2 s1 serial port VS RS2/RS+ serial port aside of its interface. Does it work thesame?
Hi Joseph,
Reach M2 uses UART and Reach RS2/RS+ uses RS-232. They have different voltage levels for logical 0 and 1, and you’ll need the adapter to make them work with each other.
As for the logic of operation, it’s similar: you’ll need RX, TX and GND wires to make it work.
I have an rs232 radio, how am i goin to make it work with reach m2?
Hi Joseph,
You can use any UART to RS-232 converter, it should be possible to purchase it from a local electronics store or online.
Then you need to connect both radio and M2 to it. Most likely, the connection would be the following:
- RX → TX
- TX → RX
- GND → GND
But if you feel like you’re stuck with it, post the photos of the converter here and we’ll help you to figure it out
