If i understand the doc’s correctly the best way to get maximum accuracy is to establish the control point on the limit of the project and work inside the polygon that’s is defined by the control point
From what i understand, 3 minimum. 4 better to box in. 5 better in case 1 gets blown out.

Yep, this is the way to go and that 5th in the center becomes the base point if possible.
