In need of frame/hardware advice

Hi there,

I am new to drone building. However, as a software developer I am comfortable with configuring the Pi and related stuff.

I want to build a drone/quad based on the Pi and Navio+ board and I would like to get your advice on what frame + hardware to buy. Does not need to be super fancy, just something decent to get started.

I am looking to know what I need, except the Pi and Navio board. So that would be the frame, motors, rotors and perhaps motor controllers? Would you recommend any base kit out there that works well with the Pi + Navio?

Thanks!

Hey,
I am mainly into fixed wing airframes, but you could look at hobbyking.com. They have quite a lot of options to choose from. Otherwise you could visit FliteTest, they are into scratch building and offer kits to get started. They also have a Youtube chanel full of everything you could use on RC stuff.
If you just want to keep it simple, you can buy a flamewheel from DJI, these are prettymuch PnP, but you will need a LiPo and charger.

Hope I could help you…

Thanks :-). I will investigate based on your tips.
