hi emlid, i have queries regarding GNSS ground plane of what materials it should be. can we use galvanised metal plane sheet? or it should be an aluminium?
Short of having seen a material study on this, you shouldn’t see much difference.

Speaks about the size and thickness of the groundplane (among monay other things)
Hi Joseph,
The main requirement is that the material should be a reasonably good conductor. So, it’s not only aluminum. I suppose galvanized metal should work as well.
Any RF reflective material will work which most metals that I know of are. You can also use paint and tapes that have metallic content. Aluminum is most common for these applications because of it’s weight which always surprised me because it is non-magnetic.
