I trying to use FGA but have not been able to make the Ntrip Corrections work in either FGA 1.7 or FGA 1.8. I think I have all the settings good as reachview 2 and reachview 3 seem to work on there own. So we have been using Reachview 3 for all or data collection needs and staking points.
Our Ntrip connection is Missouri MDOT service. any suggestions?
So your NTRIP is not connecting in settings or your arenāt getting a fixed solution? If the former I would doublecheck your internet connection and the login information with your corrections service provider. They will be able to see on their end if there is a logon or authentication problem.
When I go to get corrections in FGA it just says āunable to mount pointā or just stays on ātesting internet connectionā , It used to connect ok with FGA 1.6 Any Suggestions?
Thank you
That does sound like a configuration/authentication problem, but does it connect in the Reachview settings and then in RV3 Survey?
It connects good in Reachview and if I just do not even turn on FGA I can get a good fix and collect points fine. I just not got it to work by opening up hot spot on phone. So I think I will uninstall FGA from Tablet and install it on my phone and should work fine. I will let you know.
Iām trying to figure out how you are getting that message in FGA. There are no settings for NTRIP there and the only connections are the receiver to the internet, the mobile device to the internet and the receiver to the device via Bluetooth.
This might help. There are sections for the RS/RS+ and the RS2.

I solved the problem, I deactivated FGA from tablet and reactivated it on my phone which is what I wanted to do for a long time. It seems to be working well. thank you for your help.
Microsurvey finally received some auto-logging from our crashes and a sent them a slew of Trace Files today. The are active on it now.
That is great, thank you for your effort. I was shooting some points this morning, but I forgot to turn on tracing. It crashed two times in about 3hrs and I also did a preemptive shutdown of the app one time when I saw it slowing down. I might be using it later in the week and will try to remember to turn on Tracing, if you need additional files.
It definitely would help to have crash reports from different devices. Thanks!
Received this e-mail from MicroSurvey about the Hotfix for their version 1.8.2.5719 recent update. I was encountering problems with the project files locking up when doing a stakeout with FieldGenius with the notice of āunable to access the project fileā error messageā¦ I sent an error report via their integrated error reporting section in FieldGenius and was given a same day reply that they were aware of the problem and that they would issue a Hotfix soon. Once it crashed I was unable to access the project file again to either shoot or stake some points. I would then create a new project and I attempted to stake out the points again and it would crash with same results as before. I will do a small test tomorrow and see what kind of results I get with the latest update.
Quoted e-mail:
FieldGenius for Androidā¢ Hotfix

I also wanted to mention about new videos notice in the same e-mail.
āOur new Mobile Product Specialist Kailey Shearer has released the first 3 videos in the FieldGenius for Androidā¢ how to series. These videos can be seen on our LinkedIn, Facebook and our MicroSurvey YouTube channel. Stay tuned for more videos, as Kailey will be releasing several new videos every week. Curious, roughly how much is FGA running just as something to think about? $1000, $2000, etc?
Is it finally where it should be compared to the old FG for handhelds, tablets etc? Or are there other comparable android app options out there?
Thanks!
I just bought an FGA perpetual license for $999 direct from MicroSurvey.
My setup is (2) x Reach RS2ās running latest (v26) firmware, and latest FGA running on a Nautiz x6 phablet. Previously Iāve logged maybe 15 hours collecting points in ReachView 3 app on an iPhone (using WiFi to the RS2 rover), havenāt had a chance to use FGA + Nautiz x6 + bluetooth yet.
Iām glad to see there are a number of other Reach / FGA users here on Emlid community forums.
Thank you. Iāll have to check that out. Seems the Android with ARM processors are much more efficient and great on battery power compared to the Windows 10 FieldGenius tablet/Surface devices.
Heavier, get hot outside, thermal shutdown etc.
I have a old Trimble Nomad 6G also, but display tiny compared to Surface. But gets by.
Seems MicroSurvey would be developing a version for Apple devices (tablet) with the new M1 cpus that apparently run circles around Intel etc. New Apple release event tomorrow.
Iām still having the occasional crash while collecting and saving points. Itās a minor inconvenience being that I am not shooting a ton of points and I can usually tell within a point or two when it is going to happen so I just proactively restart FGA. I email them again a little earlier to get a status update but I also just got notified that a new version was available when I went to check what mine was. Now on 1.8.2.5720.
Very unlikely and probably the same with most other true survey software providers. Surveying is just not the Apple crowd and developing in their framework is a PITA. As far as I now the M1 series chips are not for mobile. They could be but thatās not how theyāre being used.
I think weāll find out at tomorrowās Apple Eventā¦ supposedly some good new stuff. Iām a PC guyā¦ but the M1 chips etc got my interest. Ipads are so slim and light vs the bulky heavy power hungry Windows shit.
Nice but iāll take this all day over that. Might be cool for personal use but completely impractical for anything else.
So back to FGA 1.8.2.5720ā¦ I just talked to Microsurvey and there is a new build coming in a couple of weeks. I went through the reproduction steps and will be working with one of their QA Technicians.
Anyone with recent events to report?
