Please add the ability to measure a point using the volume up or down button (iPhones allow this function i think). This is much easier than pressing the virtual button on the screen and even easier when wearing gloves!
Hi @kostismagalios,
Thank you for your suggestion! Using the volume buttons to measure a point sounds practical and user-friendly, especially for scenarios like wearing gloves.
Could you share more about how you imagine this working? For example, would you want both volume buttons to perform the same action, or should each button have a different function? Also, are there specific scenarios where this feature would be particularly helpful for you?
This would be very helpful for me. I work in the marine environment where rain, spray, or waves can play havock with the touchscreen on my data collector.
A hardware button would be a great solution.
Using a volume button, or even the call button on a connected headset would allow me to deactivate the touchscreen for operation in harsh environments.
It will be much easier to push the volume up button without looking at the screen while trying to keep the bubble in the center.
And gloves! Dont forget gloves!
I cant think of some other function that could be assinged to the other volume button.
Hi guys,
Thanks for expanding on this idea! I’ll share this with the team and make sure your feature request gets added as +1.
Many thanks!
+1, I think this is a great idea for any difficult situation
Hi @Wombo,
Thanks for the +1! It’s been added
I agree.
The possibility to use a hardware button to collect data would be a great improvement.
I started with resistive displays, and while there were limitations a wet display has never been an issue.
Any workaround to be able to work with capacitive screens in wet conditions would be welcome.

Hi Massimo,
Thanks for joining the brainstorm! Your +1 is on the list. For now, the hardware button idea seems like a good way to avoid the issues with picky capacitive screens.
