Emlid RS3 (modem model and USA compatibility)

I used to pop my SIM card in the RS2 when 3G was still working in the USA, but not anymore. I know I can work it out with my cell phone and the app Emlid flow, but my students are having issues (especially those using IOS phones even after ticking the compatibility box).

So, for the USA, what is a good (cheap, I won’t get reimbursed) plan with good coverage?

Thus far, I have looked into:
1- Redpocket (Ebay): GSM plan $2.50/360 days
2- infomobile
3- tracfone???
4- others?

A plan I could just load with data when needed would be best. BTW. what is the typical data use with RS3? I have unlimited with my phone, so I never checked.

Thanks.

Hi @hydrocynus,

Have you tried using the BLE connection? For iOS, you just need to turn on the Bluetooth setting and connect to Reach with the Bluetooth icon. Reach will use the phone’s internet connection if it’s available and activated.

For the SIM Card recommendation, we haven’t conducted local tests, but as I know, some of our users and dealers from the US successfully work with Google FI Wireless/EIOTCLUB/Twilio/SPECTRUM SIM cards.

Hopefully, other users will be able to share more experience and recommendations.
