Emlid Reach GPS Equipment Question!

I’m a 65 Year Old Surveying Crew Chief with 32 years of Surveying experience.

1: Can a “Old Dog” (myself) tackle the task of mastering the Emlid Reach GPS Equipment, and its Software ? The only GPS equipment I’ve used is the Old Ashtech …… Let it “Bake” for hours, and carry it back to the office for processing. It sits in a storage building now collecting dust, and cockroaches. lol

2: If there is anyone in North Carolina or southern Virginia that’s using Emlid Equipment…… I would welcome a shoutout and invite to check it out before making a purchase. This will be a self purchase rather than a Company purchase.

Hey David, welcome to the community! I can say confidently that if you have been around any Surveying software and hardware that you can without a doubt pick up the Emlid workflow quickly. The software interface is still easy to get around and not over-complicated. Plus, we’re here to help! Now’s a good time to take advantage of the sales!

You’ll prob find the Emlid “Survey” software is work in progress (WIP) and limited. Make sure you check out all the features to make sure it has what you need. Otherwise you can use other FULL FEATURED software or apps via NMEA such as Microsurvey FieldGenius (Windows supports robotic total stations, Android version does not).

Fyi, Emlid Black Friday sale i think right now. No idea when the next new model beyond RS3 is coming out… so be aware of that. Just one of those things.

@dabonsfire2018, Emlid is easy to learn and use. We are all Javad here but I have M2 and RS2 receivers. I don’t use my Emlids as much as I like to because I’m a dedicated office surveyor and 67 years young. I just use mine as static as a backup receiver on project sites if I need to post process any local on site baselines.

If I can learn, anybody can. If you have any questions just ask !

Hi David,

You can absolutely handle our software and hardware, considering your extensive surveying experience. Our Support team is always here to help you configure and set up receivers, not to mention the community with many professional and experienced users as Michael said above.

How would you like to utilize the equipment? Are you looking for a single unit to work with RTN or a base-rover setup?

If you’d like to discuss our product in more detail, please don’t hesitate to contact us at sales@emlid.com.
