Custom point name increment

Hi!

Our user case is based on collecting points along a lines with defined spacing in meters - usually 2 - 4 meters. For simplicity, our naming convention is then composed of the line name and the station along the line in meters, e.g:

Line01_000
Line01_004
Line01_008
…
Line01_484
Line01_488
etc.

I’m wondering if the Emlid Flow software allows the use of custom point increments (positive and negative), to be compatible with our database?

Welcome to our forum!

We don’t have such a feature in Emlid Flow at the moment. But this looks reasonable, and I’ll definitely pass it on to the team for consideration.

By the way, is your use case a road construction? So do you keep station numbers and corresponding chainage that way?

thanks for your reply. We’d greatly welcome the feature, as it gives us much more control over the data both in the field as well as during the data processing.

We primarily apply this approach to geophysical profiles, where we keep the stationing of our installation in meters. But also used for other cases, exactly as you pointed out → linear infrastructure.
