Connectivity problem between cell phone and Emlid Reach RS3

We have a problem when connecting Emlid Reach RS3 devices to mobile devices.

As soon as we try to access the equipment in Emlid Flow, a note appears telling us that it is not possible to connect to the receiver. We have already made some settings such as deactivating “Mobile Data”, moving away from Wi-Fi networks nearby and also tried with other cell phones to see if the problem persisted but still could not connect, or if it did it took about 2 hours.

In this case, what could be done to reconnect the receiver with the cell phone? Would you consider resetting it?

LOTS of posts on this. Search back. Seems many get a portable wifi hotspot, mifi etc.

Could try reflashing which may do the trick… make sure to copy logs first from unit though if you need them.

@carlos.valdes this is what worked for me:

Hi @carlos.valdes,

Welcome to the forum!

Are you having trouble connecting to the Reach RS3 itself, or is it an issue with getting it to connect to your mobile hotspot? Also, what is the network LED?

Can you please share the screenshot of this note? It’d help me better understand the issue.

It is more of a connection problem when you want to use Mobile Data, it happens that when you enter Emlid Flow and try to enter the receiver, the note I mentioned appears and sometimes the application closes which is somewhat tedious because sometimes it manages to connect, but it takes a long time.

I am considering reflashing the device, but was asking to see if there was another alternative.

For what it’s worth, we are using Android phones.

My language is Spanish, and it basically says it is “connecting”, but it does not connect to the receiver and that is when the application sometimes closes.

If connecting to receiver via it’s own Hotspot, you have stay very close nearby.

I ended up reflashing a M2 recently due to this headache and it resolved the issue. It only took a few minutes after beating my head against the wall for a couple of hours trying to connect.

Be aware, you will lose logs when reflashing.

Hi @carlos.valdes,

We generally recommend reflashing the unit only as a last resort. As @timd1971 noted, this process erases all data from the unit and restores its initial state.

Could you please try the following steps first:

  • In your phone’s settings, disable Mobile Data and Battery Optimization for Emlid Flow.

  • Let’s also try connecting to your Reach RS3 via Bluetooth. In Emlid Flow, quickly tap 10 times on the Profile tab and enable the BLE option.
