Connecting to a Reach device over a public/commercial Wi-Fi network

I missed one easy option that would get Reach to start in hotspot mode. That is to turn off the U+ Zone network and then boot up Reach. I don’t think you are able to do that though, are you?

I am marking this thread solved. We didn’t complete the process of communicating between a laptop/smartphone and a Reach device over a public/commercial Wi-Fi network, but we proved through pinging that communication is theoretically possible on this type of Wi-Fi network.

We also proved that while it can be done, it is not very practical because of apparent blocking of the network broadcasts that help the ReachView app find local Reach devices.

In conclusion, it is much easier to either use the smartphone hotspot connection method or connect all devices to a private/personal Wi-Fi network.
