COG and SOG using python from GPS

looking through the forum and the examples in python, i don’t see how i can extract the SOG and COG from the GPS. I know that those informations are on the Ubx00 message, and the NAV_VELNED message name but can’t manage to obtain them. Is there a way to obtain the Ubx00 message (as depicted page 69 of http://www.u-blox.com/images/downloads/Product_Docs/u-blox6_ReceiverDescriptionProtocolSpec_(GPS.G6-SW-10018).pdf), or obtaining an answer to the NAV_VELNED request?
