Can I test the motors without powering the servo rail?

I just want to test the motors to see if they are running, is it possible with ground + signal only?
DALRC 4in 1, navio2 , rpi3 ,emax motors

It is the way to do it. No need to power the servo rail.

yes thank you, I connected only motor signals + ground and it works
