Any recommendations for tripod options which can be used with the EMLID pole? I need the stability of tripod but would like the convenience of something which will accommodate the standard pole to save measuring vertical offset and carry extra gear
Here’s a link to Seco’s excellent equipment, you might try their products
Depending on the diameter of your pole. I use 1.25 aluminum 2m seco poles and what I use are a bipod for typical short observations and tripod for longer observations or if its gusty.

Thanks. Not sure that’s addressed my question though. I already use a bipole with one of my units. However, I really want to be able to transition quickly from rover use of the unit on the branded Emlid pole to a tripod setup for base use. The issue is that the release catches on the Emlid pole necessitate a tripod with ‘side’ entry for the pole
Did you even look at what I posted? The rover pole is attached with a clamp to the bi or tripod. And the pole indeed inserts from the side.
I did thank you. The question is, will the Emlid’s latches allow it to pass into the gate of that style of tripod?
I don’t own an Emlid pole. But you can choose where the bipod clamp attaches. I would think it would come down to the diameter of the Emlid pole.
Or just grab an aluminum pole that for sure works with the bi, tri-pod and be done with it. And use the Emlid pole when appropriate.
I don’t get a commission on this stuff, lol. It’s just that this is some of the least expensive kit that is made to work day in and out that you’re probably going to find. But maybe you’ll find something better for you.

Which is collapsable for portability and the bipod/tripod not so much as so. So if you’re traveling (i.e. airlines) with the bipod/tripod, you’re at the mercy of that bulkiness anyways.
The relevant mid-section of an Emlid pole (68 to 119cm up) is 31.3mm OD.
Seco’s own specs seem to indicate the clamp may pass up to 31.8mm horizontally through the gate, and 38.1mm if inserted vertically (no good for clamped poles).
Suggest you email them directly to confirm.
Hi @survey2
I agree with the guys; Seco tripod or bipod looks like the most suitable solution. Usually, all such bipods have clamps that should cover all the standard poles, but of course, you can always double-check with Seco. As Wombo mentioned, the midsection outside diameter is around 31.2-31.3 mm.
