Hi Folks,
Some strange things happened during data collection for me, things that I have not experienced with the Emlid products before. not sure if they are related. I’m not running RTK, will PPK at a later date.
Shortly after starting up, about 2 minutes, both the logs from my roving RS2 decided to switch to 1 Hz data collection after starting on 5Hz, this is clear in the LLH and obs. 1 Hz for the rest of the data collection period (about 6 hours, which I will likely have to do again). This occurred after a delay of 2 seconds of no data in the LLH, but 11 seconds of missing data in the OBS. Looks like E, C and J constellations all drop out during this change (not great behavior but why would the unit decide to just switch update rate?). Have pasted the transition described in the obs file below this message, and a couple of LLH lines as well. This is a new thing for me and one that will cause all kinds of trouble.
Now, I do not know if this is related in anyway, and could be a separate issue: I TCP nmea massage’s to some 3rd party nav software (opencpn). During sharp turns or abrupt changes in heading the nav software looses location/heading. My first thought was that this is the 3rd party software not being able to process these changes, but when I check the LLH directly output from the RS2 the data points during those turns/changes are completely missing, double checked in the saved NMEA messages and not there either, so issue at the RS2 end not the 3rd party nav app.
Location is open water so lots of clear sky.
