New in Emlid Flow: updated line stakeout modes and CAD improvements

Hi there!

The Emlid Flow 12.1 release brings enhancements to the Line stakeout tool and CAD drawings support to speed up and make your fieldwork more flexible.

Line stakeout modes: choose to stake out the entire line or its segments

We’ve redesigned the Line stakeout tool in Emlid Flow to give you more flexibility when staking out long alignments, such as road centerlines, pipeline routes, and utility corridors. Here’s a breakdown of modes:

Modes overview in Emlid Flow

Use the reinvented Along line mode to stake out an entire line and see the total distance from the start of the line to your current position—not just the segment you’re on.

Use the familiar By segments mode to focus on one segment at a time, rather than the full line.

Use the To the line mode to locate the starting point and begin staking from there.

CAD drawings: stakeout and import improvements

We’ve enhanced the recently released CAD drawing feature to make working with design files more efficient and intuitive:

Find the CAD drawing format in the Import menu with the improved import guidance to help streamline the process.

Select individual line vertices.

Stake out points.

That’s it! Don’t forget to update the app to the latest version!

Awesome Team! Next up, radius points?

…although I notice that arcs/arc’d polylines become smoothed polylines with very dense vertices so I guess there wouldn’t really be a radius point until the Engineers figure out how to maintain and identify the shape.

The meme fits perfectly here (not beta but still an update)

Interesting. With this update the pain of staking out a radius is somewhat gone if the points are dense enough.

Also according to Kartverket (Norwegian cartography), Land registry management. They advice not to register radius because the risk of getting error during management or transformation between datum is too high.
They prefer straight lines but also with minimum amount of points

Let me fix that.

Hi Michael,

You’re right that arcs and curves will be imported as polylines. Arcs aren’t currently supported, but we’re keeping that in mind. I’ve passed along your feedback!

Hi @TB_RTK,

We’re glad you liked the new update. And thanks for the memes! Always a nice addition :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Arcs and curves would be really handy, as well as maybe being able to import and alignment with profile via .xml.

Thanks just what I was waiting for , good job Emlid

Looks great! It would be very helpful to have the option to stake out radius as well.

Thanks for the input, everyone! Noted that alignment would also be useful.
