You can collect GCPs directly in OSGB36 + ODN heights. It requires the base to be exactly in ETRS89:

ETRS89 is a reference system that covers more or less all of Europe (and is ultimately tied into ITRS), whereas OSGB is a coordinate system with a certain projection, but under the umbrella of ETRS89.
