Iphone apps that can connect to RX

I have a new RX (MFi) updated to firmware v1.8.

I’d like to be able to record a gps track on my iPhone using the RX GPS data. This seems to be remarkably hard to do!

Are there actually any ios apps that can pull data from the RX?

I’ve connected Emlid Flow and the “integration with external software” info helpfully says “any” software that can take NMEA format data will work with the RX but I’ve tried about 5+ apps and non of them detect the receiver or use the RX data.

For apps that are listed as actually working with the RX:

Survey123 (arcgis esri) never finds the Device:

  • Select “add location provider” → Bluetooth → Discover
  • wait… times out and “discover” turns off
  • Repeat until you give up

Pix4d catch - connected once out of about 10 tries, connection is too unreliable to be used

Are there actually any apps that work with the RX natively on iOS?!
I’m not trying to do any fancy surveying tasks at this point, just want to collect a GPS track with RX quality data.

You can try QFIeld but it requires you to have some knowledge of QGIS to setup your projects. It also has its quirks, but you can try it out with a small cloud allotment for free with some limitations.

Hi @TimB,

Let’s figure this out together.

With your MFi RX, you can read the receiver’s position in real time with any iPhone app that works with NMEA protocol. So, let’s go through the general setup.

First, can you ensure the receiver is paired with your iPhone in the phone’s settings? This creates the basis for NMEA streaming or a location source. After, you can then set up RTK corrections on the app with NTRIP over Bluetooth and pair with ArcGIS Survey123 for positional streaming.
