How to vertically offset a point

Hi I’m new to this so not very up with the play of all of the terminology but is there a way of plotting a point and offsetting it down to below ground level?
Basically we are trying to GPS plot a pipeline that has already been buried. We have exact heights at manholes but it is too deep to take a point on the pipe and we need to plot the vertical alignment. If its not possible to offset a point did anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

Currently, it is not really possible in Flow.

However, assuming you had these depths with you at the time of the survey, you could cheat and add the depth to the pole height at the time of the observation, meaning you keep changing the height for each observation. Otherwise, you would have to export your points and manually calculate the new heights (probably better for a data entry and error checking perspective).

Either method might be more or less suitable for a Utility Provider to then put in GIS for record keeping, but I would not want to rely on the position and depth for detailed design work.

Thats helpfull will give that a go thanks

Hi @office1,

I agree with @joelbladen. This feature is not yet available in Emlid Flow, but I’ll add it to our feature request list.

It’s possible to change the pole height, but I agree that sanity checking and data checking would be difficult in this case, not unless you take some notes on the changes you did during the data collection.

It’s probably a better idea to collect the points as it is, and manually calculate the heights in the office.
